The trail, which was selected as the Montana Trail of the Year, also provides views of the surrounding mountains and grasslands, winds around ponds through old growth cottonwood trees, ending on the banks of the Jefferson River. The town of Three Forks is easily accessible off I-90 and lies en route between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.
